Python for Geographic Information System (GIS)
Workshop (Online, Bristol, and Bath) by NobleProg · £3900-5100
A geographic information system (GIS) is a system designed to capture, store, manipulate, analyze, manage, and present spatial or geographic data. The acronym GIS is sometimes used for geographic information science (GIScience) to refer to the academic discipline that studies geographic information systems and is a large domain within the broader academic discipline of geoinformatics. The use of Python with GIS has substantially increased over the last two decades, particularly with the introduction of Python 2.0 series in 2000, which included many new programming features that made the language much easier to deploy. Since that time, Python has not only been utilized within commercial GIS such as products by Esri but also open source platforms, including as part of QGIS and GRASS. In fact, Python today is by far the most widely used language by GIS users and programmers. This program covers the usage of Python and its advance libraries like geopandas, pysal, bokeh and osmnx to implement your own GIS features. The program also covers introductory modules around ArcGIS API, and QGIS toolboox.

QGIS functions as geographic information system (GIS) software, allowing users to analyze and edit spatial information, in addition to composing and exporting graphical maps. QGIS supports both raster and vector layers; vector data is stored as either point, line, or polygon features. Multiple formats of raster images are supported, and the software can georeference images. To summarize it allows the users to Create, edit, visualise, analyse and publish geospatial information on Windows, Mac, Linux, BSD. This program, in its first phase, introduces the QGIS interface for general usage. In the second phase, we introduce PyQGIS - the python libraries of QGIS that allows the integration of GIS functionalities in your python code or your python application, so that you may even create your own Python Plugin around a particular GIS functionality

E10 High-Reliability Hand Soldering
Workshop (Portsmouth) by ASTA · £3400
Develops the theoretical knowledge and certifies advanced practical skills necessary to fulfil the task of ESA Soldering Operator for through-hole and surface-mount technology. ESA requirements are designed to ensure process consistency and acceptable workmanship standards resulting in the production of high-reliability hand-soldered connections.
Mission Design Workshop
Workshop (Online) by TSTI · POA
This completely hands-on on-site or virtual workshop provides a unique opportunity to design a real-world space mission from scratch. Course participants are given a set of mission objectives in the form of a Request for Proposal (RFP) or Announcement of Opportunity (AO) and divided into competing groups to conceptually design a viable mission that meets the customer expectations at an acceptable lifecycle cost. The groups are guided through a structured space system engineering approach to define a mission concept and supporting space mission architecture, and complete a detailed analysis. Participants are given a comprehensive mission design and analysis tool along with a full copy of the Satellite Tool Kit software to analyze trade-offs and complete their design. A minimum of in-class lecture provides “just-in-time” learning and concrete examples to keep participants on track. The product of the design exercise is a 30 minute Mission Concept Review presentation where the participants are given the opportunity to outline and defend their design decisions. The Space Mission Design Exercise serves as a concrete and practical means to apply and test space system engineering techniques in a non-threatening, real-life environment. With over 3,000 alumni, this course is designed for systems engineers, payload principle investigators, subsystem engineers or project managers who are responsible for the detailed design and operations of space systems. Intact teams preparing to develop or respond to an existing RFP or AO. Past participants from Designing Space Missions & Systems, Human Spaceflight or Understanding Space are ideal!
Introduction to QGIS – Starting from scratch
Workshop (Penryn) by Clear Mapping Co · POA
If you’re looking for an Introduction to QGIS training, then this is the course for you. No previous experience of GIS or QGIS is required, but some experience of using spatial data would be beneficial. This course will introduce spatial data and show you how to import and display spatial data with the free open source GIS program QGIS. We will show you how to create choropleth maps and explain appropriate methods of visualising spatial data. Also covering some basic spatial data analysis (e.g. calculating rates).
Machine Learning for Earth Observation
Workshop (Truro) by Truro and Penwith College · Past · Free
This 2-day course will enhance your knowledge of Machine Learning in an Earth Observation context, providing you with useful skills for the sector. The course will cover the following topics: Introduction to Remote Sensing and Machine Learning We will ensure all learners have an understanding of Remote Sensing/Earth Observation data, the sources and the broad uses. It will also introduce Machine Learning in the context of RS/EO. Overview of GIS data analysis tools This module is intended to introduce the learners to the broad variety of tools available (open source) for the analysis and interrogation of geospatial data. Remote Sensing Systems This module will introduce the satellite-borne sensors we commonly use, particularly those on open source platforms. We will discuss the data formats and types that those sensors produce. Machine learning for land use and land cover applications. This will be an applied module diving deeper into an application of ML techniques. Machine learning for Object detection and Segmentation. This is a further applied module, which will look at a further application of ML and introduce Deep Learning.
GNSS Signal Structure and Processing
Workshop (Nottingham) by GRACE (University of Nottingham) · Past · Free
Provide a comprehensive review of all the key aspects of Galileo signal structure including signal modulation, coding, data and performance. This will provide participants with a good grounding in not only the fine details of the Galileo signal set but also the reasons behind the signal choices and implications for GNSS receivers.
